General Physiotherapy

Whether your injury has only recently happened, been a problem for a while, or developed over time Physiotherapy can make a huge difference. You will receive an in-depth assessment in your first session, looking at your posture, biomechanics, strength and stability. Your physiotherapist will also feel your tissues to help come to a diagnosis of where the problem is stemming from. We will then discuss our findings and come up with a plan of treatment. You will always be made to feel relaxed and comfortable during each session with us.

Massage

Massage therapy can help keep the body in alignment and balanced. It can be used complementary to other services like physiotherapy and Pilates but can often be beneficial on its own too.  We offer a variety of massage services. The massage therapist will use different techniques to help alleviate areas of tightness or pain as well as improve flexibility, joint mobility or reduce recovery time from injury. Methods such as myofascial release, effleurage, deep tissue release, trigger point release and muscle energy techniques are used.  All of our physiotherapists are also trained in therapeutic, sports massage, post natal massage.

Pilates 1:1

Pilates 1:1 tuition is an excellent way to start Pilates and learn the basics, especially following injury. We can take time to learn what your goals are, and formulate a plan, which might take the form of a bespoke home exercise programme or an individual 1:1 class. We offer packages of Pilates 1:1 classes, which are flexible depending on your needs.

Our Philosophy

At Physio Plus we make sure that you will always feel at ease, comfortable and relaxed in our care. We treat you as we would wish to be treated ourselves. We will give you time to explain your specific problem, and will clearly explain all that we are doing as we go. Our aim is that each of our clients leave feeling glad they came, and positive, empowered and excited about their recovery. Our initial assessments last 60 minutes.

What to expect from your first session?

The first part of your assessment will be a structured discussion about the reason you have come to see us. We will ask questions about your specific problem, general health and your pain. This information helps guide your physiotherapist with what to investigate in the Objective assessment.

Within the objective assessment your physiotherapist will look at many different factors which might cause your pain or problem. The assessment is injury specific and will consist of special tests which analyse:

  • Posture
  • Alignment
  • Biomechanics
  • Strength
  • Range of movement
  • Palpation
  • Special joint tests
  • Gait analysis

The physiotherapist will then feedback the findings of the assessment and give you a diagnosis. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the assessment.

Unless your condition is extremely complex, we will begin treatment during your first session, so that you begin the journey to recovery.

Treatment may consist of:

  • Soft tissue/Myofascial release techniques
  • Manual therapy techniques
  • Home exercise programme
  • Electrotherapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Postural Correction
  • Taping techniques
  • Pilates

We will arrange a follow up appointment (if required) during your first session at a time which suite you. This will be a 30 min or 45 min session depending on your needs and the complexity of your condition

Testimonials

I've happily used their excellent services for over 10 years.Laura has been great in keeping my back sorted out with a mixture of treatment, exercises that will help and general advice on managing it, allowing me to continue enjoying my golf all year round.

Mhairi Chambers

Niddry Castle Golf Club

I have been receiving treatment from Laura for several months now, initially easing a very painful neck and upper spine, and I now go for regular sessions, keeping me pain free. I also recently broke my ankle and I was so pleased to be able to see Laura weekly to ensure a speedy recovery. The support, advice, massage and exercises were invaluable in enabling me to return to normal activity much more quickly than I had ever imagined would be possible. I would recommend Physio Plus for both acute injuries and chronic conditions
